Understanding Anxiety
Feeling anxious is a normal part of life, but when worry starts to take over, it can make even everyday tasks feel overwhelming. You might notice racing thoughts, constant “what if” thinking, or tension in your body. Over time, anxiety can affect your sleep, focus, or confidence.
When we work together, we’ll start by gently exploring how anxiety shows up for you personally, what situations trigger it, and what physical and emotional signs you notice. Understanding your experience is the first step toward feeling more in control.
For many adults and young professionals, anxiety can appear around work, studies, or major life transitions. You may feel pressure to perform, worry about the future, or overthink decisions. These experiences are common, and you don’t have to manage them alone.
In our sessions, we’ll look at how your anxiety affects your daily life and explore practical ways to manage it. We’ll also talk about the pressures and expectations unique to your life stage, helping you feel supported and heard.
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space where you can explore what lies beneath your anxiety. Together, we can:
My approach is collaborative and flexible. Some clients like to focus on practical strategies first, while others want to explore the deeper feelings behind their anxiety. We’ll work at your pace and focus on what feels most helpful for you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. Sessions are 50 minutes and can take place online, via telephone or in person. We’ll work together to set goals that feel achievable and meaningful, and I’ll support you in trying out new coping strategies between sessions. Over time, counselling can help you feel calmer, more grounded, and more confident in managing anxiety in everyday life.
If you’re ready to explore counselling for anxiety, you can get in touch to ask questions or book an initial session. There’s no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel right. Together, we’ll create a safe space to reflect, practice coping strategies, and start to feel calmer in daily life.
