COUNSELLING FOR BEREAVEMENT & GRIEF
Losing someone you love can shake your world in ways you never expected. You might feel waves of sadness, numbness, anger, guilt, confusion, or exhaustion to name but a few emotions. Some days you may feel you’re coping, while on others even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming. Grief affects everyone differently and there are no rules for how long you should grieve or how you should feel.
I find when working with clients who are grieving, anniversaries can be particularly difficult with people often feeling like they are starting from the beginning of their grief. When we work together, we’ll gently explore how to prepare for emotions around these times, how to honour your loved one and discuss how grief is affecting you emotionally, physically, and in your day-to-day life. Understanding your unique experience is the first step in finding steadiness again.
In our sessions, you can talk openly about your loss, your memories, your pain, and the parts of your grief that feel hardest to share with others. Together, we can:
What to Expect in our Counselling Sessions when Processing Loss and Grief
I've found that some clients when talking about their grief, find it helpful to focus on emotional expression and storytelling, while others prefer grounding techniques or gentle practical steps. We’ll work in a way that feels right for you.
You don’t need to “be strong” here, and you don’t have to prepare anything before starting. I'm based in Chorlton if you are looking for face to face support, which is a great location for clients located in Didsbury, Stretford, Withington, and surrounding areas in South Manchester. Sessions are 50 minutes and are also available online or via telephone.
We’ll move at your pace and there is no rush, no pressure, and no expectation for you to process everything at once.
Over time, expressing your grief through counselling can help you feel more grounded and supported, allowing space for you to reconnect to yourself as you navigate life after loss.
If you’re considering counselling for bereavement or grief, you’re welcome to get in touch to ask questions or arrange a free initial consultation session. There’s no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right.
