Understanding Stress


We know that stress is a natural response to life’s demands, and we can have good stress that keeps us motivated and moving forward, and bad stress that can have a negative impact on our physical and mental well-being. When bad stress builds up we feel overwhelmed and constantly on edge. Stress can arise from many areas of life and it often comes from juggling multiple priorities and high expectations.


How Counselling Can Help

Although we all experience stress, it naturally impacts each of us in different ways. During our counselling sessions, we’ll examine how stress impacts your life and we can uncover where you feel stretched. We can then begin to explore practical ways to reduce pressure.

What to Expect in our Counselling Sessions Recognising Stress

Sessions are collaborative and flexible. I've found that some clients focus on learning immediate strategies to reduce tension, while others want to explore the underlying causes of stress. We’ll work at your pace and focus on what feels most helpful for you.


I'm based in Chorlton if you are looking for face to face support, which is a great location for clients located in Didsbury, Stretford,  Withington, and surrounding areas in South Manchester. Sessions are 50 minutes and are also available online or via telephone. We’ll set practical, achievable goals and practice strategies between sessions. You don’t need to have all the answers before starting and over time, counselling can help reduce feelings of stress, and increase healthier responses to challenges.
